ACETYLENE CYLINDERS (KAIGEN BRAND AND LEO BRAND)


I. Application: Widely used in cutting, welding, lighting, chemistry, analysis, military engineering and other fields

IV. Filling Material: porous calcium silicate filler (specific components are confidential), no asbestos materials


V. Filling Solvent: acetone.

It is recommended to use acetone rather than N,N-dimethylformamide (HCON(CH3)2, DMF) as the filling solvent because:

(I) The dissolution rate is lower than acetone.

(II) The dissolution process generates more heat and is less safe than acetone.


VI. What KAIGEN Does More For You (KAIGEN's Advantages):

(I) The porous filler reacts in a steam kettle at a high temperature of 150-160 °C for 36 hours and then dries for 7 days. Some manufacturers put the porous material directly into the drying kettle for drying after filling the empty cylinder, which will result in poor filler porosity, low compressive strength, and easy collapse.

(II) Refuse to use recycled materials. The porous seasoning used by some manufacturers is mixed with the filler in the scrapped acetylene cylinder, which will bring many serious problems:

1. The filler has low porosity and poor performance.

2. The filler has poor strength and is prone to collapse. Especially after long-distance land or sea transportation, some of the pores at the bottom of the cylinder are blocked, while the filler at the top of the cylinder collapses, and the axial clearance of the shoulder increases. Once it is greater than 2.5 mm, the acetylene cylinder will be scrapped.

3. The service life is greatly reduced. Acetylene cylinder made of recycled materials is prone to failure in inspection after 3-5 years of use.

VII. Usage Recommendations

(I) After the acetylene cylinder is placed or transported for a long time, it should be placed upright for 3 days before use. After the acetylene cylinder is placed or transported, a large amount of acetone accumulates at the cylinder mouth. Even if the acetylene cylinder is placed upright, the acetone cannot flow down to the bottom of the cylinder immediately (because the filler in the cylinder has small pores), and more acetone will be discharged during use. Therefore, after the acetylene cylinder is placed or transported for a long time, it should be placed upright for 3 days before use to prevent excessive loss of acetone.

(II) During normal use of acetylene, about 50g of acetone will be lost when using 1 kg of acetylene, so it is recommended to add acetone once a year.

(III) Use acetone as a solvent, which has better performance than N,N-dimethylformamide (HCON(CH3)2, DMF).
